Emily Sander aka Zoey Zane, Discordian friend and proposed Discordian Saint.
Israel Mireles was convicted of the murder, rape and aggravated criminal sodomy of 18-year-old Emily Sander. For those who don’t know, the Kansas Sander’s case got national attention because she posed naked online as Zoey Zane. She was called a “porn star” and “pornography model,” but she wasn’t the first and in my opinion wasn’t the second (not that I’d mind if she was). More importantly to us, she was friends with Discordian Perlie the Pony Girl, and had a Discordian tattoo.
Mireles had fled to Mexico, and was found there. But because Mexico, like most of the civilized world, doesn’t allow executions, the United States had to promise not to kill him. Emily’s friend Perlie said, ”I’m glad they aren’t going to kill him. I don’t believe in that and Emily didn’t either. She was such a wonderful girl. I hope people remember her that way.”
Emily aka Zoey has been nominated as a Discordian Saint.
As for Mireles, he faces almost certain lifetime imprisonment, and will be sentenced 31 March 2010.

I’ll answer this straight for once. We have permission from the family and friends to post what we posted, including photos of Emily; we do not have permission from the ones who own photos of “Zoey” to publish those.
Nominated for saint… because she got a tattoo? Really?
I think it’s more to do with the friendship with PtPG. On the page there it’s said that she was aware of Discordianism as accepted that her tattoo was in some ways discordian (five stars).
Personally I’d wonder how family and friends would feel about sainthood, but from what I’ve read of her description she seemed to have most of the attributes generally held in esteem.
Really she’s a Discordian American Princess which you can look up online. She had a pure, innocent image then did something shocking. Also Perlie wants to honor her. I don’t feel her family knows much about it but her friends think its cool.
Oh and the Mythics of Harmonia are the ones who nommed her. I’m co-founder with Fairy Princess Yoshikyoko.

Ah, but it’s fun taking votes and pretending they actually mean something. But as Ratatosk is a Pope, it’s now been done. Zoey Zane is now a Discordian Saint. Will include that in our next Snooze Letter coming out in the next two or three hours.
